Sheriff John Staley

In 2000 Sheriff Staley began his law enforcement career serving the citizens of Austin, Arkansas as a part time officer. In 2003 he left Austin and started serving the citizens of Jacksonville as a Patrol Officer. During his time at Jacksonville he worked as a Patrolman, School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, Chief Crisis Negotiator on the tactical team, and Patrol Sergeant. While working for the Jacksonville Police Department he received numerous Awards and Commendations including the Life Saving award in 2004 and a Meritorious Service award in 2008. This drive to be a leader in our Law Enforcement world led him to become the Chief of Police for the City of Austin in 2009. He was proud to serve the citizens of Austin and has over 1500 hours of Law Enforcement training. Staley is a certified law enforcement instructor, firearms instructor and holds a level 1 Chief of Police certification, basic, general, intermediate, advanced and senior law enforcement certifications. Staley was elected Sheriff in 2012 and started his first term January 1st, 2013. He says it is an honor serving the citizens of Lonoke County as their Sheriff. Staley is married to a wonderful woman, Mandy and they have three daughters.
